Volunteers

How do I become an HSBC volunteer?

HSBC employees interested in taking part in this Initiatve should contact their HSBC Country Coordinator or Eco-Schools National Operator, who will match you with a school.

What would I do?

HSBC volunteers can help schools in a variety of ways. Examples are:

  • joining the school's eco-committee - a student-led group who take a lead on making the school more sustainable
  • developing resources such as gardens, wormeries, compost areas, bug hotels, ponds and green roofs
  • supporting the teachers on student environmental awareness days
  • inviting students to visit the local HSBC office and learn about the work done to make the business more sustainable
  • facilitating conference calls between students in your and other countries engaged in the initiative

Benefits for you

You would:

  • be part of a global initiative for HSBC which will see you make an important contribution to your community through actions to reduce climate change
  • receive training and learn about climate change while building new networks
  • help make a difference by changing your own behaviour and that of your colleagues, friends and family, as you learn from and with the students

For more information contact your HSBC Country Coordinator via the Contacts page and read the Volunteer Manual, found under resources on this website.
