Selection Criteria

Level 1 - School Level: school chooses its Eco-Code from different student proposals;

Level 2 - Regional Level: (where applicable) regional officers choose one winner (for each category) from entries coming from different schools in their region;

Level 3 - Delegation Level: the national operator chooses one national winner (for each of the two categories) and sends them to Eco-Schools International Co-ordination. Each Eco-School delegation will be free to define criteria of participation (e.g. just Green Flag schools, all of the schools, etc.);

Level 4 - International level: Eco-Schools International Co-ordination sets up an online exhibition of all the posters (national winners). National operators and international jury vote for the best ones. National Operators cannot vote for posters from their own country. The international jury will be made up of HSBC and FEE representatives, as well as the national operators from the delegations involved. Others may be invited to be a part of the international jury.

All the final Eco-Code posters will be presented at the 2010 national operators meeting in Scotland, for an international exhibition.

Three posters from each category will be awarded in the international competition:

  • 1st Prize - $1000
  • 2nd Prize - $750
  • 3rd Prize - $500

The three winners will be recognised worldwide through the HSBC and Eco-Schools means of communication.
